British Museum of Natural History

Oh the Museum of Natural History.  A better name for this place might be the British Museum of Taxidermy.  But seriously, this museum has some really awesome things to look at.  And it's all FREE!  It took an hour by bus to get there, but at least there weren't any transfers involved.  The 430 bus picks up closest to home and drops off right at the museum.  If the exhibits aren't enough to draw you in, it's worth a visit to admire the architecture.  Il est incroyable!

After an about two hours, we barely scratched the surface.  Priorities are key, and so of course we saw the Dinosaurs and the mammals.  Next visit we'll check out the nature and science "zones".  Tea and cakes in the museum café was a bit of a let down. (Although I will admit that I'm still absolutely thrilled that cake is always an option for afternoon snacking.)  Both of the sweets chosen were disappointing, although another chance to sit down with Mr. Earl Grey is always appreciated.  So what's not to like about animatronic dinosaurs, skeletons, and taxidermied animals?  Well, once you can get over the obvious stitches in the hides of some of these animals, you'll have a jolly old time.  Pictures being worth so much more than words, see below for the nearly-full effect.

The entrance to the museum.

Dino in the museum lobby.

Triceratops!

This dinosaur is right at home in England.

Stegosaurus? No, this one is twice as good.

LEO!

I'd be more happy if this one wasn't dead.

Giraffe, Elephant, Rhino, and...Manatee?

Earl and me.

These pictures are only a very small representation of the museum.  Check out my Facebook for more.
