Burlesque!

As last night's lovely hostess so elegantly put it, my burlesque cherry has officially been popped! Sunday's are usually boring, so this Sunday some friends and I decided to head down to Tooting (yes, that's really the name of the town) to hit up some free burlesque. Sam had the inside info, being friends with the hostess. We took long bus ride to the Tooting Tram and Social, and almost walked right past the entrance. We walked in 10 minutes before the show was supposed to start and found a dimly lit, full house, blast-from-the-past atmosphere. It felt like we had just walked back in time 50 years. All of the tables were either occupied or "reserved" for so-and-so. We lurked by the bar, ordered some drinks, and then were offered seats by a  friendly pair of friends who had more chairs than they needed. Then the show began, and my what a treat that was!

Song, dance, comedy, feather boas, sparkly pasties. This show had it all. Well, truth be told I don't really know if it actually had it all - this was my first burlesque experience. But I was pleased with the performances. The atmosphere was awesome, the performers were talented, and we all had a really great time. This event was dubbed "Hot Sunday", so afterward, we felt it fitting to grab sundaes from the nearby McDonalds. All in all, a great Sunday evening. Can't wait to do it again!
